Hello and welcome to the home of author Michelle Fryer.
For me, writing is no longer a passion it's become a way of life. I'm always observing the world around me to gather material for my next story. It might be the sweet metallic scent of the waiters cologne that makes me wonder about the woman that selected that fragrance for him and where she is now. Perhaps, it's the way a co-worker rushes in and out the door without making eye contact that inspires me to write a character that fights away the forces that keeps her silent. Inspiration is out there and creating those stories are the greatest treasure for a writer.
When I wrote my first full length novel I was consumed by the need to write. I worked out plot, characters, and sentences in my head as I drove to and from work. Every lunch hour consisted of my fingers tapping the keys and picking at my cooling food. At home, I'd put turn on my laptop before ever taking my shoes off an playing with the dogs. The story I had to tell bubbled out of me like a shaken can of coke - I had to write. Now, looking back at that beautiful gift of a first novel - I grimace at how badly written that first draft turned out, but it has grown with me as I've learned and honed my skills.
Like the rest of my life, I'm severely undecided and thus I have to admit I cannot pick a genre in which I adore more than any other. I write actively in historical, contemporary and urban fantasy. Most of my work have themes of crime, survival, and hope.
I currently live in Colorado with my four-legged kids, Tyler (A border collie doggie ninja) and Toby (A psychotic chihuahua puppy with a never-ending case of the zoomies). When not working in education, I'm enjoying my family, talking with my friends, reading, designing flower arrangements, and of course writing.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to share my novels with you soon!
